As the summer holiday moves into it’s second half, many of us find ourselves in that awkward mindset. While some of us might be sad at the realization that summer is indeed half over, others are trying to do as much as they can before heading back to school or work in the fall. Whatever half you stand in, August is filled with tons of fun and exciting things to do to make sure that your summer ends with a big bang!

Whether it is a continuation of the concerts in the park series (which is happening in various neighbourhoods throughout the week!), street festivals, trips to the zoo, picnicking at the beach, or even camping out underneath a blanket of stars, Clarington has something for everyone. Here are some to look out for:

Orono Antique Street FestivalAugust 9th from 10am-4pm. Whether you’re looking for something specific or just browsing, this is a great place to find what speaks to you right in Downtown Orono!

The Out Standing In Our Field field dinner event serves up something ‘Just A Little Corny’ on August 10th, with the third evening in a series of four taste experiences of local produce.  Served right in the field of Watson Farms, Bowmanville, this is a taste and learning experience highlighting locally grown, sourced and prepared food. This menu features the August favourite, corn! Save the date for next months ‘Fall Harvest’ dinner as well.

Is more formal tea your taste? There is still time to relax and enjoy Afternoon Tea at the Bowmanville Museum every Wednesday in August from 12- 3pm. You can call to reserve a table (905) 623-2734 and enjoy home-made scones and cream with preserves, assorted sandwiches and tea (or lemonade), and take in the charming view from the Museum verandah. Summer Corn Festival and Jamboree – August 10th from 9-4:30pm The Courtice Flea Market is home to many wonderful vendors, including a fresh farmers market! During their Summer Corn Festival you can shop, eat, play and sing along to the local artists.
