Without a doubt, teens around the Municipality are buzzing with excitement to have the ‘Best Summer Yet’. Here are a few ideas to make sure this summer is everything you could have hoped for!
Visit the Parks!
Need to cool off for the day? Take your friends to Cedar Park Resort, minutes north of Bowmanville. Along with a large water park, this resort offers mini-putting and picnic grounds. It’s a great place for a group hangout, sure to create a day filled with lots of smiles, splashes and sunshine!
Looking to soak up the sunshine on the beach? Clarington West Beach Park is the spot. Head down to Port Darlington with a few friends for a beautiful day on the sandy shore of Lake Ontario. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
Are you Hungry?
Clarington has a great selection of dining-out options. Lucky for us, these restaurants and food trucks are sure to satisfy every sweet, salty and savory craving.
Walk or drive to Hanc’s Chip Truck and Junior’s Sourdough Pizza, conveniently placed together, east of downtown Bowmanville. Both of these trucks deliver a variety of options from meat-lovers favourites, cheesy poutine and more!
Undecided about where to take a first date? Why not try Castle John’s in Newcastle or The Fire Hall Bistro in Orono? Both restaurants are reasonably priced for your part-time dollar. They also provide a large menu, and feature an amazing variety to make for a delicious meal.
If you’re looking for a sweet experience with your friends, take a walk (or drive) over to the Chocolate Messenger. This chocolate factory carries some of the finest Swiss chocolate, sure to indulge your taste buds.
A great way to get outdoors and still be interactive with technology, geocaching is becoming a worldwide ongoing event. Luckily enough, Durham Region has their own local Geocaching Passport, where you have the chance to win a prize if you can find 24 out of 48 spots from Pickering to at home in Clarington!
For those who are up for some speed, look to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Sit track side at a NASCAR race, walk the paddock and get up close to the Superbikes, or camp under the stars. 16 years-old and under get in free. Start planning and check out the CTMP schedule for the next race weekend.
Looking for a thrill? Paintballing is the way to go. Book a game at Newcastle Outback Paintball, for an afternoon of ducking and dodging, laughing and having fun with your friends.
There is much more to enjoy throughout Clarington this summer, this is just to get your planning started. Find more on the Clarington Tourism website. Don’t miss our local events happening nearly every weekend, too!
